Two major earthquakes hit Venezuela 39 seconds apart, killing at least 32 people

Two massive earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, just 39 seconds apart near a town called Yumare. The first was strong; the second was slightly stronger. Because they hit so close together, the ground shaking was worse than if only one had happened. At least 32 people died and about 700 were hurt. The shaking was felt hundreds of kilometers away in the capital, Caracas.
