Why the UK might add a big extra tax on Chinese electric cars

Britain may charge up to 45% extra, like a cover charge, on electric cars from China to match EU rules. Brussels says this is needed to join its Industrial Accelerator Act, a Made in Europe law requiring goods built with European parts. Britain alone has no such charge, but wants access because Europe buys most of its cars.
