Senate Report Says Iran Uses Digital Dollars to Get Around Bank Bans

A Sept. 28 report from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, says Iran uses Tether's USDT, a digital token worth one dollar, as a 'significant financial lifeline' in its unofficial money system to avoid bank sanctions. Of 846 banned Iran-linked online accounts, 84% used USDT exclusively or almost exclusively.
