$229 Million Raised to Fight California Tax on Billionaires

Building a Better California has collected $229 million since February to fight Proposition 40, a California vote on a one-time 5% tax on people in the state worth over $1 billion. Donors include Sergey Brin and former Google chief Eric Schmidt, the Guardian reported Sept. 24. The cash would typically pay for ads, signs, door-knocking and voter calls.
