Trump says UK plan to hand over islands is 'terrible'

Donald Trump told Andy Burnham at their 22 September UN meeting in New York he is against the UK's Chagos deal: “I don't support it. I think it's terrible.” Under the plan, Mauritius would own the islands and Britain would rent back its Diego Garcia base for 99 years. UK officials say the plan is paused while Trump objects.
