87-Year-Old Forced to Leave Her Madrid Home of 71 Years

Maricarmen Abascal, 87, was forced to leave her Madrid home on 23 September 2026 after living there 71 years. Court officers came on their fourth try, and she was carried out on a stretcher to an ambulance. Her father first rented the Retiro flat in 1956. Hundreds of people gathered outside to try to stop them.
