Space Company Plans Spacecraft That Flies Itself

Asteroid-mining company AstroForge will fly Autonomy-1 in 2027 using only its own Solo self-flying software, CEO Matthew Gialich said, with no radio to receive instructions from Earth. The chatbot-like AI follows two failed test craft and 2025 radio trouble with Odin. Solo will first ride along without controlling DeepSpace-2, a craft launching by end of 2026.
