More new mothers losing a lot of blood in England

Liberal Democrat analysis of health service figures said more than 8,000 women in England lost over 1.5 litres of blood — about three bottles of water — after giving birth so far in 2026. The party said that is more than twice the 2021 level and the highest on record.
