More than 8,000 women in England suffered severe blood loss after birth

Liberal Democrat analysis of NHS figures said more than 8,000 women in England suffered blood loss of over 1.5 litres after giving birth so far in 2026. The party said the total is more than double the same period in 2021 and the highest ever recorded.
