Uber Must Pay $40 Million After Young Passenger Dies on Freeway

Uber must pay $40 million to parents of Emily Normandin-Parker, 23, killed in August 2023 on Orange County's 73 freeway. She vomited in the car. After the Uber driver stopped to argue with her friend over a cleaning fee, she got out and was hit in traffic. Arbitrator Richard Stone, a private judge, said Uber is responsible for its driver.
