States Keep Control of Mail Voting

The highest U.S. court rejected President Trump's national mail-voting plan, so states run the Nov. 3 congressional elections their own way, like separate households. The plan called for identical envelopes and one voter checklist. Each state still sets its own deadlines and rules, including counting ballots mailed before Election Day but arriving after, as permitted in June 2026.
