Yemen Plan to Retake Capital Fails, West Coast Lost

Yemen's plan to retake its capital, Sanaa, from Houthi rebels collapsed. Over 15 army units were defeated and the whole west coast fell to the Houthis. Up to 30,000 well-armed government troops retreated. UN-backed government forces now hope to take the Kahbob hills to stop the Houthis reaching Bab al-Mandab, a narrow sea passage.
