Indonesia Gets Its First Ship That Carries Aircraft

Indonesia got its first aircraft carrier — like a floating airport — in September 2026. The former Italian ship Giuseppe Garibaldi docked at Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta after traveling from Italy through Colombo and the Malacca Strait. Put into service in 1985 and retired in 2014, the 180-metre ship holds 18 helicopters and 830 crew.
