Japan likely to raise rates to highest since 1995

Most forecasters expect Japan’s central bank to raise its main interest rate by a quarter-point to 1.25% at its Sept. 17-18 meeting, Reuters reported Sept. 8. That would make borrowing costs the highest since 1995, Reuters reported Sept. 17. I doubt future rises will be as smooth as markets expect.
