Fiji Calls HIV Spread a Country-Wide Health Emergency

Fiji has declared HIV, the virus that weakens the body's ability to fight illness, a national health emergency. Health minister Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu announced it after the cabinet — the group of top government leaders — agreed on 9 September. The government says this lets all parts of government work together against the outbreak.
