Mali's Military Leaders Killed in Bombing

Mali's defence minister and spy chief were killed in April 2026 when a bomber who died in the blast hit the minister's home in Kati, near the capital Bamako. It came during a joint attack by JNIM, an al-Qaida-linked group, and Tuareg FLA separatists on towns, soldiers and Russian fighters helping Mali's army.
