Mali's Defence Minister and Intelligence Chief Killed in JNIM Suicide Attack

Mali's defence minister and military intelligence chief were killed in April 2026 when a suicide bomber struck the minister's residence in Kati, near Bamako. The attack came during a joint offensive by al-Qaida-linked JNIM and Tuareg FLA rebels targeting towns, troops and Russian auxiliaries.
