Councils to get new way to charge builders for pipes, roads and parks
Councils will be able to charge builders a new fee to help pay for water, wastewater, stormwater, roads, parks and community buildings from 2029, and must do so from 2030, the Government says. The fees will replace the current charges, called development contributions. A law to bring in the change is planned for early 2027, if the Government is re-elected.
