Councils can charge new developer levies from 2029, must do so from 2030

The Government says councils will be able to charge developers new development levies from 2029, and must do so from 2030. The levies will cover water, wastewater, stormwater, transport, reserves and community infrastructure, and will replace development contributions. Legislation is planned for early 2027, if the Government is re-elected.
