Papers warn of delays and denied care from Medicare computer checks

On Sept. 8, the Electronic Frontier Foundation released papers it says show long waits, denied treatment and confusion in WISeR, short for Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction. CMS, the agency that runs Medicare, says the trial uses artificial intelligence, computer helpers, to give advance permission for care in Original Medicare. What matters: if quicker checks still stand when patients object.
