Plan to change old rule about PM and Church jobs

The government has proposed a law to scrap the rule stopping a Catholic or Jewish prime minister recommending people for Church of England jobs to the King. Andy Burnham, the first Catholic prime minister, said it was “unacceptable” for people of any faith to be blocked from the full job.
