Syria temporarily raised the price of premium (95-octane) gasoline to 195 Syrian pounds per liter (about $1.60), starting midnight Sunday. The Energy Ministry pointed to unusually high world fuel prices and repair work at the Baniyas Refinery, the plant that processes fuel, with bulk prices near $1,400 per ton for diesel and $1,350 for gasoline.
