Music Groups Team Up to Stop Fake Streams

The group representing over 8,000 record companies, IFPI, started a Streaming Integrity Initiative on 14 September 2026. Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group and Merlin are the first supporters. Distributors, which put music on streaming apps, agreed to common rules against fake plays to protect artists, songwriters and fans.
