Head of America's National Museums to Retire in 2026

Lonnie Bunch III, the first African American leader of the Smithsonian — a group of national museums — will retire at end of 2026. He created the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Bunch said personal reasons guided him, and told the Washington Post that Trump administration pressure on museum exhibits played no part.
