Canada sees fewer deaths from opioid overdoses
Canada counted 6,161 deaths linked to opioids—drugs like fentanyl—between July 2024 and June 2025, about 17 each day. This is the first time the number has dropped in years. Federal official Kevin Brosseau shared the numbers with a U.S. official on June 15. Most of these deaths were accidental, not intentional.
