Burnham Wants to Move Economic Growth Plans Out of London

Prime Minister Andy Burnham wants to take charge of the economy's growth away from the Treasury — the government's money department — and give it to a new team in Manchester, run by ally Louise Haigh. He compared it to a past attempt that didn't last. The Treasury is still hiring growth staff, so the move may not be clean.
