SK hynix to spend $28.3 billion buying back its own shares
SK hynix, a major chipmaker, will spend $28.3 billion buying back its own shares starting August 20, then permanently cancel them. Fewer shares in circulation means each remaining share claims a bigger slice of profit — a well-known way to make existing shares more valuable. This follows record quarterly profit, up 557% from a year ago.
