Colombia Says the Golan Heights Belongs to Israel

Colombia became the second country after the US to say Israel owns the Golan Heights, a region the UN still considers part of Syria. The decision came on 10 August 2026, days after far-right President Abelardo de la Espriella took office. He had worked out the move with Israel's foreign minister before even being sworn in.
