
Lawmaker says Victoria's name-suppression law was never meant for mental health claims
Victoria's Open Courts Act lets judges hide someone's name in court if they face threats of violence. But defendants in two rape cases used evidence of self-harm risk to stay anonymous for years. Robert Clark, who wrote the 2013 law, says that was never its purpose. The gap between intent and use is now pushing reform.
