Luxon flags possible fuel excise rise in second term, stepping back from 2023 no-tax pledge

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has suggested a fuel excise duty rise could follow if National is re-elected, telling RNZ's Morning Report the increase would need to come "at some point" over a second term. National campaigned in 2023 on not lifting fuel taxes in its first term. Luxon said planned increases were "highly unlikely" given the Iranian fuel crisis.
