Amazon Has Shipped Two Color E-Ink Kindles in Under Two Years

Amazon launched its first color Kindle, the 7-inch Colorsoft Signature Edition, in October 2024 at $280. By December 2025, it extended that Colorsoft display technology to the 11-inch Scribe writing tablet at $630. TechCrunch's August 8, 2026 review calls the Scribe Colorsoft "a lot of fun" but "not a must-have," landing it as technically impressive for a narrow audience of students, researchers, and journalers.
