DRC's Ebola outbreak has surpassed 4,000 cases and 1,800 deaths, making it the second-largest on record. Africa CDC's Jean Kaseya and WHO's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus plan studies to check if the virus is mutating. The Bundibugyo strain historically causes lower fatality than the Zaire strain behind the 2014–18 epidemic that killed over 11,000.
