Kazakhstan Releases First Tiger Into the Wild in Over 70 Years

On July 31, Kazakhstan released Umit, a female Amur tiger, into the Ile-Balkhash State Nature Reserve — the country's first tiger release in over 70 years. Umit is one of four tigers transferred from Russia to restore a population wiped out a century ago. The three others await release pending data on Umit's adaptation.
