Hassabis Steps Back from DeepMind Operations, Becomes Alphabet Chief Scientist

Demis Hassabis is handing off day-to-day operations at Google DeepMind to take on the chief scientist role for Alphabet, Axios reported on August 5. CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu becomes senior VP reporting directly to Sundar Pichai. Hassabis will also continue leading Isomorphic Labs, Alphabet's AI drug-discovery spinoff.
