Sunbird's iMessage for Android App Returns to Google Play Three Years After Privacy Breach
Sunbird's iMessage app for Android is back on the Google Play Store, roughly three years after a 2023 shutdown. Encryption vulnerabilities then allowed access to over 630,000 user files. The app routes Android messages through a remote server impersonating Apple hardware — the same man-in-the-middle architecture behind the original breach. Sunbird has not detailed specific security changes. The relaunch is priced at $3/month.
