El-Sayed Leads Stevens in Michigan Senate Primary Too Close to Call

Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive former public health official, held a narrow lead over moderate Rep. Haley Stevens in Michigan's August 4 Democratic Senate primary, with votes still being counted. The winner faces Republican Mike Rogers in November for the open seat left by retiring Senator Gary Peters. Stevens said she would back El-Sayed if he wins.
