Italian woman recovers €1m lottery ticket from rubbish after shop discarded it

An anonymous woman in Bitonto, Puglia unknowingly discarded a €1 million instant-win ticket after a shop's machine returned a "non-payable" result — smaller retailers cannot verify large prizes. She contacted SANB, which tracked the correct garbage truck to a specialist facility. Workers searched over a day before finding the ticket, intact inside a damaged bag. SANB required the woman to cover all search costs.
