Over 60,000 migrants cross into Spain's Ceuta enclave in two days; more than 80 dead

More than 60,000 people crossed into Ceuta, a Spanish enclave on Morocco's coast, over two days in late July 2026. More than 80 migrants died — some drowned or were crushed at a breakwater barrier. Spain deployed additional military and police forces. Interior Minister Grande-Marlaska said "almost all" who entered had left by the following Saturday.
