Samsung Bans Smart TV Apps That Covertly Turn Viewers' TVs Into Proxy Exit Nodes

Samsung will ban smart TV apps embedding residential proxy SDKs after Mnemonic found apps covertly routing strangers' web traffic through users' home connections — traffic that appears to originate from the user's own IP. A Samsung-promoted Pac-Man game was among those flagged. LG separately pledged to suspend similar apps.
