Gambling giants gave biggest customer drugs and escorts, Senate inquiry told

Anti-gambling campaigner Tim Costello told a Senate inquiry on August 3, 2026 that TAB, Sportsbet and Sydney's Star Casino offered their biggest customer — turning over more than $20 million a month — drugs, escorts, free accommodation and $50,000 in bonus bets. Costello said the individual is now detained at Silverwater prison facing charges. The companies have not yet responded to the allegations.
