NDP Leader Avi Lewis forgoes by-election runs to prepare party for next general election

NDP Leader Avi Lewis says he will not seek a Commons seat in upcoming by-elections, choosing instead to ready the party across all 343 ridings within the next year. Lewis, leader for four months, plans to run for a seat before or during the next general election. The NDP currently holds five seats, seven short of recognized party status.
