US Releases $600M for Gavi Vaccine Alliance, Cuts WHO Off from Funding
The United States released $600 million to Gavi, the global vaccine alliance, while formally barring any of those funds from reaching the World Health Organization. A joint State Department–HHS statement on July 30 reaffirmed that the US "will not provide US Government funding to the World Health Organization through Gavi." The move extends Trump's January 2025 WHO withdrawal into vaccine financing architecture.
