FCC Robot Ban Hits an Entirely Foreign-Owned Vacuum Market

The top five robot vacuum brands — Roborock, Ecovacs, Dreame, Xiaomi, and Narwal — are all Chinese entities. Roomba is now owned by Picea, a Chinese former contract manufacturer. The FCC's July 27 ban on new foreign-made ground robots therefore freezes the next product cycle for the entire US consumer robot vacuum market. Approved models remain sellable; new ones need waivers.
