Gemini's macOS fn-key update turns it into a system-wide agent that can read your screen and act across apps

Google's Gemini for macOS now lets users long-press the fn key to invoke the assistant from any window. Beyond voice dictation with filler-word removal, an opt-in screen-aware mode lets Gemini read on-screen content and execute tasks across multiple open apps. The rollout is worldwide but English-only for now. This positions Gemini as a system-wide agent directly competing with Apple Intelligence on macOS.
