FCC Robot Ban Waivers Demand U.S. Production, Not Security Improvements

The FCC's July 28 import ban on foreign-made robots and power inverters cites national security, but waiver applicants must provide a U.S. manufacturing plan — not any security improvements to the devices themselves. The waiver application includes no requirements to harden the banned equipment. Existing products already in the U.S. can continue to be used.
