US Threatens to Reassess UN Funding After Walking Out of Security Council Meeting

After walking out of a July 27 UN Security Council session on Ukraine as France spoke — protesting French criticism of Washington's human rights vote alongside Russia and North Korea — US Ambassador Jeff Bartos warned of "consequences" and said the US would "immediately reassess our engagement, participation, and funding" regarding the UN. Washington has already cut UN agency funding and withdrawn from dozens of UN entities.
