Ukraine Strikes Iranian Shipping in the Caspian Sea, Killing One Sailor

Ukrainian drones struck two cargo vessels in the Caspian Sea on 25 July 2026, killing one Iranian sailor and wounding another — the first Ukraine-Iran clash in that body of water and the war's first extension into the Caspian. Iran summoned Ukraine's envoy and invoked Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. Zelenskyy said the vessels carried military cargo.
