Labor's federal caucus is majority female for the first time — women hold 56.1% of seats and 52.2% of cabinet, per the Parliamentary Library. Yet every name insiders volunteer as Albanese's successor is a man: Butler, Chalmers, Marles and Burke. Tanya Plibersek, set to become the longest-serving woman in the House, is conspicuously absent from the conversation.
