Over 250,000 Evacuated as Wildfires Hit France and Spain Simultaneously

More than 250,000 people have fled wildfires across France and Spain — 197,000 from France and 70,000 from central Spain. France's interior minister Laurent Nuñez called the evacuations "probably" the country's largest peacetime evacuation ever. Spain declared its first-ever national emergency over wildfires. France deployed 1,500 soldiers and 1.5 million smoke masks.
