Claude Voice Mode Gains Opus and Sonnet, With Mid-Conversation Model Switching

Anthropic extended Claude's voice mode beyond Haiku to include Opus and Sonnet, previously text-only tiers. Users can switch between all three models mid-conversation without losing context and toggle between voice and text within a single thread. Anthropic has not disclosed how conversation state persists across model boundaries. Neither OpenAI nor Google offers mid-session model switching in voice.
